Prepare to be dazzled by the rare and beautiful white peacocks showing off their exotic feathers or enjoy the melody of the Indian parrots and lovebirds. Our collection of more than 130 species of birds will surely impress even the most passionate bird enthusiast. In the world today, we have around 10,000 species of birds that inhabit ecosystems from the Arctic to the Antarctic. You will enjoy seeing a wide representation of these including pheasants, horn bills, cranes, parrots, and birds of prey.

Out of the 290 species of raptors or birds of prey, India is home to 63 species of which 45 are found in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Bring along your notepad and camera to record the fascinating details of skillful hunters like falcons, hawks, harriers, eagles, and vultures. Be on the lookout for rosy pelicans, flamingos, and cranes in the large ponds and open grasslands.

In the city of Hyderabad, you may be able to see about 200 species of birds during the migratory season − October to February. House crows, sparrows, doves, common mynahs, and red-vented bulbuls are commonly seen but in the open areas and gardens, one could see the sunbirds, white-headed babblers, munias, and the magpie robin. Unfortunately our city is rapidly losing its parks and greenery to urbanization. The birds at our zoo are a reminder that we have a responsibility in preventing the felling of trees and encroachment of parks in our city.
